THREAD: "نساؤكم حرث لكم"

@AReminder0 A completely misunderstood verse, that actually has a very beautiful meaning. It says:

"Your wives are like farmland for you,1 so approach them ˹consensually˺ as you please.2 And send forth something good for yourselves.3 Be mindful of Allah, and know that you will

meet Him. And give good news to the believers" 2:223

They assume women are objectified as "farmland" in this verse, when they don't know the beautiful meaning behind it.

Brief Context: The Jews of Mecca had a platitude quoting "Approach your women from behind (paraphrasing for: don't ask for consent), LEST THE CHILD WOULD COME OUT AS CROSS-EYED".

The Jews had a certain rule in the Torah, that the wife must and only be laying during intercourse.

They assume women are objectified as "farmland" in this verse, when they don't know the beautiful meaning behind it.

Brief Context: The Jews of Mecca had a platitude quoting "Don't approach your women from behind , LEST THE CHILD WOULD COME OUT AS CROSS-EYED" and "that the woman must only remain laying during intercourse".

The Jews had a certain rule in the Torah, that the wife must and only be laying during intercourse, meaning that she shouldn't be responsive.

The verse got revealed as a result, likening women to farmland (yes, it's an allegorical speech in case you didn't know by now). It says, you can initiate sexual relations with your wives hpwever you like, BUT just as the Farmland has to be responsive to you if you treat it well

...your wife should be treated well to make her responding, and it annulled the rule that women MUST be laying during intercourse.

Then it says "وقدموا لأنفسكم", meaning Do for yourself as God wishes, and it says "واتقوا الله" (fear God: in treating your women), "واعلموا أنكم ملاقوه ", (And Know that you will meet Him). وبشر المؤمنين and send Good Tidings to the Believers

"who feared God in treating their women". So to represent all of this "consensually" was added in the translation.
